Jaaja Barb's Home of Angels
You are probably wondering why Banana Bread would be listed as a page on my website menu... well... because it's delicious!
Actually... the real deal is ... all of the proceeds that are earned through my music will be donated to non-profit.
My dear friend Barb Giraud started baking Banana Bread to sell with the hopes of building an orphanage in Uganda. By the grace of God, and her determination, her dream was realized. Jaaja Barb's Home of Angels in Uganda is now housing and caring for over 40 children.
In January 2017, I had the opportunity to write a song for these children based off of Psalm 138. I taught it to my son's 2nd grade class. We recorded a video of his elementary class singing this song and sent it to the Home of Angels in Uganda. They, in turn, recorded a video of them singing this beautiful passage of scripture proclaiming that "His Steadfast Love Endures Forever."
In the Fall of 2017, Barb taught me how to bake her famous Banana Bread... (and it really is famous). I, then, had a crazy idea to do what I called 30 Days of Banana Bread. I baked Barb's banana bread for 30 days (November 25th - December 24th). When a minimum of $30 was donated to Jaaja Barb's Home of Angels, I would bake the donor two loaves of banana bread and give two loaves to the Cyrus Centre(a shelter for homeless youth) in Abbotsford, BC. I posted it on Facebook, made some silly videos, dressed up in a banana costume and ended up raising the funds needed to build a latrine, septic tank, beds and bedding for their new nursery school... and some extra for their basic everyday needs. It brought a lot of joy to me, the people I baked for, the Cyrus Centre youth and the Home of Angels in Uganda.
This past December, I organized 30 Hours of Banana Bread instead of a full 30 Days. People baked Banana Bread all over the world and gave it away as an act of kindness, while sharing the incredible story of the Home of Angels.
My goal with my music is four-fold: To use the gifts God has given me to give glory to Him, to write and sing music that inspires others to worship Him and persevere in their faith to the end (2 Timothy 4:7-8, Hebrews 12:1-2), to have a creative outlet for my passion, and to serve the orphans and widows in their affliction. (James 1:27)
From time to time, I may do more fundraisers with banana bread... but for now... when you purchase my music, all of the funds will be donated to Jaaja Barb's Home of Angels in Uganda and other similar charitable organizations.
Thank you for your support!
*All proceeds from "I Praise You - (Psalm 139)" will be donated to The African Children's Choir
